Bruce Matos

CT HOSA Vice President of Communications

“Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.” – Paulo Coelho

Bruce’s journey with HOSA has been a combination of his various interests, including his dedication to self-improvement and passion for making a difference. A first-degree black belt in Kung Fu and Co-Captain of Weston High School Track team, he demonstrates the bold qualities of discipline and perseverance, characteristics that have shaped both his physical and mental pursuits. When faced with challenges, he has leaned on the leadership skills he learned while becoming an Eagle Scout. HOSA has given Bruce the best chance to bring together his passions for healthcare, fitness and community service. As Founder and President of his Weston High School’s HOSA Chapter, he has found various meaningful initiatives and friendships within HOSA which have allowed him to find a sense of community wherever he goes. This belonging continues to guide him toward a future career in healthcare where he can make a lasting impact.

HOSA has been an extremely unique experience for him with many opportunities to connect with others that share his goals and interests. Through the organization, he now can better understand the importance of empathy and communication while he pursues a career in behavioral health.

In his personal life, Bruce enjoys spending time with friends and playing video games. His other interests include music production, a love for movies, working out and running. One special mission he dedicates his spare time to is as Head of Partners and Sponsors at The Joshua’s Heart Foundation, a non-profit organization that fights poverty and hunger. With all these interests and a clear vision for the future, Bruce wants to make a significant impact wherever he can, HOSA included. As he continues this goal, he will still always be excited about any possibilities lying ahead and where they will take him.
